Lawyer, graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. For many years he worked as a lawyer in a Warsaw law firm and then in the legal department of a bank. He also served as Director of the Department of Supervised and Subordinate Units in the Ministry of Development and as Director of the Department of the State Treasury in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. He articipated in the works related to the creation of the Polish Aviation Group. He was a member and then Chairman of the Supervisory Board of PLL LOT S.A. for over five years. He has extensive experience in investment financing, corporate governance and legal aspects of commercial companies.
He was a member of the Supervisory Board of the Industrial Development Agency (ARP) S.A. from May 2017 to December 2019 and a member of the Management Board of ARP from December 2019. He oversaw investment and restructuring projects. He was involved in offshore wind energy projects, in particular in securing the participation of Polish companies in the development of this
energy segment.

Min Hwan Chang

Representative of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power
Min Hwan Chang took over as chief representative of the Prague office of KHNP (Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power) in September 2021. It acts as the main liaison and oversees KHNP's efforts towards the construction of new nuclear facilities in Czechia. He has almost 20 years of experience in nuclear power plant operations and overseas project development.
Min Hwan Chang joined KHNP in 2002, and since 2011 has been involved in the nuclear power plant project in the UEA, where the company won the contract to supply four units based on APR1400 reactors. Mr Chang was responsible for training ENEC staff and coordinating the project from 2011 to 2014.
In 2014, he became a delegate to WANO (World Association of Nuclear Operators) Tokyo Centre, where he reviewed nuclear maintenance and development activities at power plants operating around the world, including Asia, Europe and the U.S. He held the post for three years.
In 2017, he returned to KHNP and became involved in the development of Korean nuclear technology exports, including construction of new nuclear facilities in Europe. He was responsible for providing key equipment and engineering services for existing nuclear units in European countries such as Romania and Slovenia.
Min Hwan Chang holds a Master's degree in engineering from Hanyang University in Korea.

Karen Daifuku

Executive Director of the I2EN
Karen Daifuku is Executive Director of the I2EN since January 2022 and was its Deputy Director from 2019.
Between 2011 and 2019, she was a Senior Advisor in the EDF Group, and contributed to the strategy for the development of new business and services for embarking countries. From 2016, she developed training offers mainly for ASEAN countries that were in the process of building their human capacity in the nuclear sector. She also advised on nuclear communications and stakeholder involvement activities. She is the inventor of the Nuclear Public Acceptance Game.
Ms. Daifuku has been involved in the work of the IAEA over many years mainly on issues important to embarking countries. Between 2009 and 2011, Karen Daifuku was senior advisor in the joint venture between EDF and Enel to build four EPRs in Italy with respect to the communication and stakeholder involvement aspects. From 2004 to 2009, she worked for the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) as Chief of Cabinet, Head of the Central Secretariat, External Relations and Public Affairs.
She was the European Atomic Forum’s (now Nuclear Europe) International Affairs and Communications Director from 1999 to 2003 in Brussels, Belgium.
Prior to her post in Brussels, she was International Communication Manager for EDF beginning in 1990.

Thierry Deschaux

Thierry Deschaux has over 30 years of experience in the energy sector. He has been with the EDF Group since the beginning of his career. For 15 years he worked in France dealing with nuclear energy issues in the following areas: engineering, servicing and maintenance of power plants and strategic purchases of nuclear fuel. He also has a good knowledge of the Polish energy market, including knowledge in the area of coal purchases, development of heat and power plants, management of district heating systems and development of energy services.
During his 15 years in Poland, he held managerial positions in companies such as: Energokrak, EDF Polska, and Dalkia Polska, where he was President of the Board during 7 years.
He is an engineer by education, graduated from Centrale- Supelec, INSA. He completed numerous training courses in corporate strategy, project acquisition and business development, and business leadership.

Joel Eacker

Joel Eacker is a Senior Executive for Westinghouse in the nuclear engineering and power industry. He is currently the Executive Project Director for new AP1000 Nuclear Power Plant development in Poland. He also supports development programs for new nuclear reactors in the Ukraine, India, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Slovenia, the United Kingdom and Slovakia. In his career, he has supported a variety of global clients in developing new facilities in the Nuclear, Oil, Gas, Chemical, Infrastructure, Environmental, Advanced Electronics, and Manufacturing Sectors of industry. He has led teams that have delivered facilities valued at over $100 Billion in his career in locations around the world, including Bahrain, China, Iraq, Japan, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.
Mr. Eacker and his teams provide an integrated set of project management, engineering and procurement services for these clients including program management, portfolio management, engineering, project management, procurement, safety, quality, project controls, construction management, contract administration, data management, client capacity building, commissioning, training and general operations support. He has personally supported several clients in leading mobilization and initiation efforts and developing governance structures.
Mr. Eacker is a registered Professional Engineer, a certified Program Management Professional, and a certified Project Management Professional. He has over 40 years of programs, projects, business, operations and engineering experience. He started his career as a U.S. Naval Officer operating nuclear reactors onboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65). He has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Petroleum Refining Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and a Masters of Project Management from Colorado State University.

Paweł Gajda

AGH University of Science and Technology
Employee in the Department of Sustainable Energy Development at the Faculty of Energy and Fuels of the AGH University of Science and Technology. His research focus is on reactor physics, next-generation reactor technologies and the role of nuclear power in low-carbon energy systems. He has worked on a number of international research projects in the field of new reactor technologies, especially subcritical systems (ADS) and high temperature reactors (HTR). He has participated in internships and training courses organised by, among others: Nuclear Technology and Education Center JAEA, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology or Saclay Nuclear Research Centre CEA.
He also deals with the popularisation of knowledge in the fields of climate and energy, especially nuclear energy. Board member of the Sustainable Energy Institute Foundation, where he leads projects related to education and knowledge dissemination, including a programme of lessons on energy for schools. He is also secretary general of the Polish Nucleonic Society and a member of the board of the European Nuclear Society.

Andrzej Głowacki

Vice-President of the National Atomic Energy Agency
Vice-President has significant professional experience in the field of nuclear safety and radiological protection. He completed a number of national and international trainings, including on-the-job training at the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (U.S. NRC) in conducting inspections at the construction site of the Vogtle 3&4 and V.C. Summer 2&3 Nuclear Power Plants, as well as the commissioning of the Watts Bar 2 Nuclear Power Plant in the United States. He also participated as an expert in the international mission of the IAEA Integrated Nuclear Regulatory Review (IRRS) which was carried out in Canada. He is a contributor to the IAEA TECDOC No. 1867 Handbook for Regulatory Inspectors of Nuclear Power Plants.
Andrzej Głowacki is a first and second degree nuclear regulatory inspector. He is also a member of the PAA President's examination boards for the positions of nuclear regulatory inspectors. Since 2011, he has been the representative of Poland in the Working Group for Inspection Practices at the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency.
Andrzej Głowacki has a master degree in physics. He also completed postgraduate studies in Nuclear Power at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology.

Antoine Guelfi

Director of Export Services, International Nuclear Development, EDG Group
Antoine Guelfi has a track record of nearly 25 years within the EDF Group where he has gained an extensive experience in nuclear engineering&design, large-scale project management and high-stakes managerial positions. His career has taken him to many different entities of the Group: Research&Development, Corporate Audit, several Engineering divisions for existing and new nuclear reactors, fuel and waste management. Among his international activities and collaborations, Antoine has acted for 3 years as the Secretary of the European Utility Requirements (EUR) Organisation. Recently he has led the detailed design studies for the two UK EPR nuclear islands being built at Hinkley Point (HPC Project). He has now joined the international new nuclear development division as Director of Export Services.

Agnieszka Kaźmierczak

Agnieszka Kaźmierczak is Director-General of the Euratom Supply Agency, an independent public agency with mission to secure supply of nuclear materials (including nuclear fuel) for all users in the European Atomic Energy Community.
Graduated from Warsaw University and Polish National School of Public Administration, Agnieszka has served for over 25 years as senior manager in the public service at national and EU level, as well as one of the Big 4 professional services firms.

During her posting to the Polish Ministry of Finance, Agnieszka developed the financial control system for EU funds and introduced internal auditing into the Polish public sector.

In 2005, Agnieszka joined the European Commission and as Director in the auditing service launched risk-based internal audit in EU agencies and bodies. Later, as resource Director, she supervised financial resources and programmes in the areas of energy and transport, cultivating best practices in governance and accountability.

Agnieszka’s vision for the Euratom Supply Agency includes continued alignment with EU energy policy, in particular security of supply, reinforcement of the Agency’s market monitoring role and closer contacts with stakeholders in industry, research and national administrations.

A leading executive with extensive background and knowledge of the Polish energy market, Miroslaw Kowalik became president of Westinghouse Poland in May 2021. In this role, Mr. Kowalik leads the company’s plans to invest in nuclear technologies in Poland, including providing the world’s leading and safest AP1000® technology to the country’s nuclear power program.
Mr. Kowalik brings more than 25 years of experience in the energy sector, with expertise in business leadership, strategy, new project acquisitions and business development gained while in senior leadership positions at companies including SNC Lavalin, Alstom and ABB. Most recently, Mr. Kowalik served as president of Enea, one of the largest energy companies in Poland.
Based in Westinghouse’s Warsaw office, Mr. Kowalik will also serve as president of Westinghouse Electric Poland sp. z o.o., overseeing various Westinghouse activities in Poland in addition to Westinghouse’s nuclear new-build efforts. Miroslaw Kowalik is a graduate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Gdynia Maritime University. He received his MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management in cooperation with the University of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk Foundation for Management Development and also completed post-graduate studies in corporate finance management at the Warsaw School of Economics.

Krzysztof Kurek

Professor Eng. Krzysztof Kurek has been graduated at the Warsaw University of Technology Technical Physics and Applied Mathematics Faculty in 1980. His PhD on hadrons, partons, quarks and chromo-dynamics was defended at Warsaw University Physics Faculty in 1986. In 2012 he finished his DSc proceedings with a thesis entitled “Understanding the Nucleon’s Spin Structure. The Direct Gluon Polarisation Measurement at the COMPASS Experiment”. In 2019 he was awarded the title of professor. His professional interests include physics of elementary particles/particle interactions, quantum field theory (in particular quantum chromo-dynamics), structure of the nucleon, application of neuron networks in high energy physics.
Professor Eng. Krzysztof Kurek used to work at high energy physics experiments run with the use of muon beams in CERN (Geneva): New Muon Collaboration, Spin Muon Collaboration, and Common Muon Proton Apparatus for Structure and Spectroscopy (COMPASS). Since 2013 member of the Polish team working on the LHCb experiment run at the LHC accelerator in CERN. Author or co-author of more than 350 papers published in international recognized scientific journals. Former Head of NCBJ PhD Studies and former NCBJ Scientific Secretary. NCBJ Director General since October 25, 2015 .

Professor Alojzy Z. Nowak graduated from the SGH Warsaw School of Economics in 1984. He is affiliated to UW as of 1984. In 1991, he earned his doctoral degree in Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw. He received tenure in Economic Sciences in 1995 there. Previously, David served as the Executive of Plant Solutions, a portion of GE Hitachi’s services business comprised of asset enhancement services, technical services, spare parts, instrumentation and controls, digital solutions and the BWR Owners Group product portfolios. David also had overall responsibility to manage the joint venture business partnership between GE and Hitachi. David had also served as the Sales Executive, responsible for the global sales and business development for all of GE Hitachi’s new nuclear plant offerings, and as the NPP International Projects Leader. Prior that, David worked for 6 years in Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF) as the Manager of Customer Projects, Commercial Operations and Marketing, delivering fuel and engineering services to the worldwide BWR fleet. David has over 36 years of service with GE, and held many diverse assignments in manufacturing, supply chain, sourcing and operations for GE Energy, GE Aviation, & GE Lighting and has served on the board of directors for both Global Nuclear Fuel-Americas and Global Nuclear Fuel-Japan. He is a 3-term member of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Civilian Nuclear Trade Advisory Committee (CINTAC), was the chairman, from 2015-2017, for the World Nuclear Association’s task force on Nuclear New Build Lesson-learned, and served on the technical advisory board for the Nuclear Alternatives Project’s Preliminary Feasibility Study for Small Modular Reactors and Microreactors for Puerto Rico. Piotr Dardziński

President of the Łukasiewicz Research Network
Since 1 April 2019, President of the Łukasiewicz Research Network – the third largest research network in Europe associating 38 research institutes and delivering comprehensive business solutions. In 2015–2019 Undersecretary and then Secretary of State in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, responsible for science-business cooperation. He supervised the National Centre for Research and Development, the National Agency for Academic Exchange and the Information Processing Centre. As a member of the Innovation Team, he supervised the interministerial work on the first and second Innovation Act, as a result of which R&D reliefs for research and development centres grew from 30% to 100% and 150%. Graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University and the University of Hamburg. PhD in the Humanities. Scholarship holder of the University of Freiburg (Switzerland) and graduate of the prestigious IESE Business School in Barcelona.

Konrad Szeląg

Deputy Director of the Analysis and Strategy Bureau, Industrial Development Agency
Graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH), where he obtained his doctoral degree in economics in 2003 (SGH College of World Economy). He has also obtained MBA and DBA degrees. As a scholarship holder of the Polish-American Fulbright Commission, he completed the Hubert H. Humphrey programme in the US (at Boston University and Harvard University). Since 2019, he has been working at the Industrial Development Agency S.A., serving as director and deputy director of the Office of Analysis and Strategy. He previously worked at the National Bank of Poland, the Ministry of Finance and the European Commission in Brussels. He has held professional internships in the US (Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Washington DC). Author, co-author and editor of publications in Polish and English on European integration, the banking sector, monetary and economic policy, industry, etc.

Nikołaj Uzunow

Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology
Born in 1968 in Sofia. Graduated in Nuclear Power Engineering from the Technical University in Sofia in 1991. Since 1992 he has been living in Poland. He defended his doctoral thesis in the field of mathematical modelling and simulation of dynamic processes in thermal turbines at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology in 2001. He has been an employee of that Faculty since 1996. From 2002 to 2004, he worked as a fellow researcher at the Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in the field of hydrogen turbines. In 2010, he completed a three-month internship working on a reactor at the Commistariat à l'Energie Atomique research centre in Saclay, near Paris. Since 2006, he has been the supervisor of the specialisation 'Nuclear Power Engineering, now 'Nuclear Power Engineering' at the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (MEiL) of the Warsaw University of Technology, and since 2010 he has been the head of the postgraduate course 'Nuclear Power Engineering'. He teaches classes and diplomas in reactor physics, nuclear safety, Generation IV reactors, power plant process modelling, among others.

Berta Picamal Vicente

Legal and International Relations Director at Nucleareurope
Berta Picamal Vicente is Legal and International Relations director at nucleareurope, the trade association of the nuclear industry in Europe. She has 2 degrees in translation from Barcelona University (ES), nd from Université de Mons-Hainault (BE), and a Master’s Degree on International Politics from the Brussels University (BE). She has also followed the International Nuclear Law Essentials (INLE) course organised by the OECD-NEA. She started her professional career in 1996 as Task Manager in the European Commission dealing with Nuclear Safety in the former Soviet Union countries (mainly Ukraine) through a program called TACIS. She also worked in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London and was in charge of analysing the Bank’s proposals for investment and to ensure compatibility with EU policies. She dealt with major investment projects in the nuclear sector (ie Chernobyl Shelter Fund and Nuclear Safety Account). She started working in nucleareurope in June 2004, and was responsible for radioactive waste management and decommissioning issues, and new build programs. She is in nowadays in charge of the Director General office and relations with nucleareurope members and responsible for all Legal aspects related to EU nuclear policies (Euratom Treaty at large) and International Relations. She also deals with the European SMR pre-Partnership initiative.

Ryszard Wasiłek

Vice-President of the Management Board for Operations of PGE Group
Graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Szczecin University of Technology, and completed postgraduate studies District Heating and Heating of the Warsaw University of Technology, Faculty of Environmental Engineering.
Ryszard Wasiłek has held the position in the Management Board of PGE since March 2016 – first as the Vice-President fo Development, and since February 2017 as Vice-President for Operations. Earlier, he had been the President of the Management Board of a district heating company Przedsiębiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej Sp. z o.o. in Stargard (2003-2016). In years 1994-2003 worked at KielArt Sp. z o.o. in Szczecin as CEO – Chairman and in years 1990-1994 served as the Deputy President of Stargard, responsible for economic policy.
Moreover, Ryszard Wasiłek is the President of the Polish Power Plants Association, the President of the Polish District Heating Chamber of Commerce and the Vice President of the Polish Electricity Association. In 2016-2020 he was sitting on the Board of Chamber of Commerce of Energy and Environmental Protection. Earlier he used to be a Member of the Council of the Stargard Chamber of Commerce (2004-2016), a Member of the Regional Council of the Polish Chamber of District Heating – North-Western Region (2010-2016), a Member of the National Council of the Polish Chamber of District Heating (2014-2016). In years 1993-1994 was also the President of the Western Pomerania Municipal Community “Euroregion Pomerania”.
